I bought this at a tchotchke Shop in Pennsylvania 30 plus years ago. All I know about this piece is that it is some kind of Native American ceremonial rattle. There's a deer antler going into the turtle shell (which is beautiful) to serve as the handle, there is damage to the turtle shell but it is small (broken piece is still attached its just pushed into the shell, it wouldn't take much to fix, in the right hands) you can see the damage in the last picture, inside are small stones, natural crystal stones. The bottom is animal hide (deer, i assume), and it's sewn with gut. It's a really neat piece. Size: turtle shell is @4.5in X 3.5in. Antler is roughly 7in. Hard to measure because antler has a curve to it. It's exactly the size of what you would expect a hand rattle to be, not huge, not small
