Beautiful and mysterious Delft Blue Bartje figurine #4123. 7.5" tall base 3.25" square. No cracks or chips. Bartje is a character made famous by a 1935 Dutch book series about a boy who doesn't want to follow in his father's footsteps as a farmer. In a shocking scene Bartje, pushes away a plate of brown beans, which he hates, and refuses to say grace, exclaiming "I won't thank God for brown beans!"
