A natural rose chalcedony from Montana stone is embedded in this Sterling silver *poison* pendant on a 925 stamped silver snake chain which is 20 inches.
This is a reproduction of an Italian necklace from the late 1860's known as a poison or pillbox pendant. It is a type of locket necklace with a container behindthe bezel or inside the bezel itself which could be used to hold poison or another substance. The poison pendant was used to slip poison into an enemy's food or drink. They were popular in the 1600's history but now they are just functional and cool!
In chakra practices, chalcedony is believed to be the stone of communication and is often placed by the pharynx to stimulate the throat chakra. The throat chakra is considered the voice of the body and allows energy or pressure from the other chakras to be released.
