Pattern # Marked on Back A5981
Many examples of this pattern have been recorded and they have a range of backstamps, both Gray’s Pottery and Old Castle, a backstamp used for the North American market by Gray’s Pottery (but not exclusively – other potters also used it). Frequently, these examples of A5981 have been on Pieces in the USA, a reflection of the vast amount of lustre ware which Gray’s Pottery exported to North America during the Second World War and on into the 1950s.
