This rooster, made in China, has wonderful painted details; there are several kinds of feathers and really terrific feet. There is no chipping, paint loss, or crazing. There is one crack, but it cannot be felt on the surface—likely it was a manufacturing defect and glazed over. It is on the rooster’s breast and is shown in the last pic. Otherwise, this is in excellent condition.
The maker’s mark is only partially legible. The mark resembles the sailing ship used by Nantucket. Part of the lettering supports that, but it cannot really be determined. So the maker remains unknown.
