Leucobryum glaucum
White Moss family (Leucobryaceae)
Physical description:
This moss has a interesting growth habit, forming dense cushions of plants from 1.5cm to 60 cm across or more. These cushions have a low dome shape and they are 1.5 cm to 12.5 cmtall or more. The foliage of this moss varies in color from pale grayish green to medium green. The stems are 1-12 cm.The leaves occur in overlapping swirls along these stems. The leaves are ascending and they clasp the stems at their bases. Individual leaves are 0.5 cm to 1cm
Cultivation:
This Moss has been collected sustainably from personal land allotment and has been adapted to underwater environments for a minimum of two weeks with no additional fertilizers or carbon dioxide and has been placed in 2 oz portion cups. Moss has not had visible growth since placed in portion cup but has produced pearling action which is a plants way to emit oxygen as they undergo photosynthesis and begin growing.
