Large ~2" 1877 $50 Proof Commemorative Medal Probably Brass Possibly Gold Plated

Very cool collectible item!

Only two of the original 1877 gold pieces were made and this is a nice proof style commemorative edition. Stamped "copy" on the reverse as you can see.

Large size and hefty weight as shown in the pictures.

Not sure of composition. It has the ever so slightest magnetism if you hold a very strong magnet very close. I would guess it to be potentially gold-plated and maybe a bronze or brass base. But I do not know for sure.

Circulated condition with some spotting and scuffing. Really nice toning on the back though and quite shiny throughout!
