This figurine is the 6" tall version and has no cracks, repairs, or blemishes, but has minor crazing on its base which is not unusual for its age (see pix). Otherwise, it is in MINT Condition. The trademark places the manufacture of this piece Circa 1960-69. It was first crafted by master sculptor Reinhold Unger in 1948. It has been called “Mother of Ducks”.
Sister Maria had a love of children, and a whimsical nature, sketching them in various situations. This young girl is feeding her little duckies from a bowl, and they were pestering her to hurry! She is wearing her babushka, apron and ties in her pigtails and neck.
Considering this piece is over 60 years old it is still an extremely colorful and detailed porcelain figurine made by the fabulous craftsmen at the Goebel factory so very long ago!
What a wonderful, vintage gift it would make!
