Moroccan wedding blankets (Handira) are a marriage celebration tradition that originated with the Berber tribes, they are meticulously handwoven out of sheeps wool, cotton and linen in anticipation of a wedding by the brides female relatives.
It can take hours, even weeks of work to attach metal mirrored sequins (which are authentic elements of Handira throws) once the weaving is complete.
These ornate pieces hold significant cultural meaning for the tribes.
Our breathtaking decorative Floor pillows take original, historic Handira and up-cycle them into easy to fill cases which we have embellished with colorful threads and more metal sequins for a modern and bright appearance.
