Four Early 20th Century Celluloid Vanity Tray Pieces

This four piece set of vanity tray essentials dates from the 1900s-1920s. It is celluloid, with luxurious touches. The four pieces are hairbrush, comb, soap dish, and powder jar.

Comb: 4-1/4” x 1”. No visible cracks or other damage; no missing teeth.

Hairbrush: 4-3/8” x 1-1/4” x 1-1/8”. No cracks; no visible damage other than some grime. The bristles are very soft and they don’t show any patches of sparseness. They are a bit messy around the outside.

Powder Jar: Lid 3” across, the base of the box is 2-3/8” across, and the jar closed with lid is about 2-5/8”. No cracks. The rim of the jar’s opening is somewhat rough. There is a small, darker- colored irregular patch on the outer surface of the jar.

Soap Dish: 3-1/2” x 2-3/8” x 1-3/8” (all measurements closed with lid). The cellulose in this soap dish is the thinnest and most delicate; there are vertical cracks in both the bottom and the lid. There are 8 cracks in the base and 5 in the lid.
