Approximately 8” wide. 4” high with lid
Great Vintage Condition!
Silver deposit glass was first made during the late nineteenth century. Solid sterling silver was applied to the glass by a chemical method so that a cutout design of silver metal appears against a clear or colored glass. It is sometimes called silver overlay. Most glass companies made blanks which were sold to Silver Overlay Companies. The Silver companies applied their highly skilled art to the glass item and then sold them. They were regarded as strong upgrades from the plain glass and brought premium prices.
Manufactured between 1939 and 1952. The Duncan pattern is known as "Canterbury Teardrop" and the silver applied flowered pattern is "Blossom Time.
