Vintage Cast Metal Mortar and Pestal

William Proctor Jr. 1817-1874

Coricidin Promotion

Description:

Very nice collectible mortar and pestal manufactured for the Coricidin company as an advertising giveaway.  These are becoming increasingly difficult to find.  This is a very attractive piece.  It is also very heavy, it weighs approx. 2.5 pounds. Measures 4 1/2" tall. I am not exactly positive if this is bronze or brass or what it might be, most other similar listings I have seen for Coricidin bookends mostly say it is bronze.  I do not want to mislead anyone so I am simply not sure.  It has a brass finish but I can tell from some imperfections on the inside that it is not a solid through and through material.  The outside does not have any imperfections, the inside as a few areas where the finish is gone.

The image on one side of this is a 3 D relief of William Proctor Jr. 1817-1874.

Known as the "Father of Pharmacy"
